Self-esteem, confidence and courage come from skills in assertiveness, positive self-imaging, affirmation and achievement. When self-esteem has been damaged or stolen, when life circumstances have not encouraged its development, clinical intervention may be required for it to grow. Through lecture, group exercises and discussion, this workshop will address assessment, planning and intervention when working with such clients. Emphasis will be on clinical techniques and skills useful to the social worker in this regard. 6.0 Clinical hours. Pre-registration deadline is 5/25/18. Limited to 45 participants.

This seminar will provide information regarding the diagnostic criteria of the DSM – 5 for Autistic Spectrum Disorder in males and new insight regarding females on the spectrum. Participants will gain helpful information to provide therapeutic support, both individually and in a social skills group setting. Participants will review the ethical principles of the NASW Code of ethics and discuss how facilitation of social skills groups and support groups for those identified as ASD exemplifies these principals. 3.0 Clinical hours.
