LAMCD Summer 2018 Workshop "Culture-centered Interventions with Children" by Louisiana Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development (LAMCD)

This workshop will highlight the mental health needs of young children and introduce participants to pediatric counseling, an innovative approach that incorporates culturally responsive interventions for diverse clients. Using an interactive format, the presenter will share examples of pediatric counseling applications and interventions. Training objectives center on knowledge acquisition about the counseling needs of and interventions for young children. This workshop is approved for 1.5 continuing education clock hours (LPC/PLPC) via Louisiana Counseling Association.

This workshop's presenter is Dr. Cirecie West-Olatunji, a past president of the American Counseling Association (ACA) and the Association for Multicultural Counseling and Association (AMCD). She serves as associate professor at Xavier University of Louisiana and director of the Center for Traumatic Stress Research. Dr. West-Olatunji has developed several community-based clinical projects in partnership with schools and non-profit organizations. She's coordinated disaster mental health outreach projects in post-Katrina New Orleans, Southern Africa, and Haiti.
