On September 29, 2014, President Obama signed the Preventing Sex Trafficking and Strengthening Families Act (“SFA”) into law. The law includes important provisions for older youth in foster care. Courts are key to overseeing these provisions and working with the child welfare agency to develop policies and enforce the provisions. This issue brief outlines the provisions of the SFA relating to older youth and suggests how courts can effectively implement them.
