Special Issue on Migration and Child Welfare
This special edition of the FFTA (Foster Family-based Treatment Association) newsletter, FOCUS, addresses migration in child welfare. This is a very relevant topic, especially now, and treatment foster care professionals need to be well prepared to serve immigrant children, youth, and families that may encounter the child welfare system. The articles in this issue are written by experts in the field who work with migrant children and youth in a variety of capacities. Articles include information on the changes in demographic trends and patterns of immigrants; meeting the needs of unaccompanied children; using culturally responsive assessment and treatment; supporting transnational families; and strategies to address family reunification with undocumented and foreign-born youth. There is also a resource list if you'd like to learn more about this important topic.  Visit the FFTA Publications webpage and scroll down to the bottom of the page to access this newsletter.
