Educational stability is critical for student success. This back-to-school session will address how child welfare practitioners and agency staff can support school stability and success of students in foster care so that every student can thrive. The focus will be on strategies that child welfare practitioners can take individually as well as collaboratively with education partners.
Topics will include key federal law, agency policy, and guidance, including school of origin best interest determination, school transportation, immediate school enrollment, designated points of contact, and data exchange; and sharing implementation tools and resources and best practice examples from around the country of effective collaboration and improved student outcomes.
