This training is free, has been submitted for 1.0 hour of CLE and CEU (applications are pending), and is designed for all judges, private adoption attorneys, adoption agencies, clerks of court, and legal and child welfare stakeholders.

About Act 6

Act 6 became law on August 1, 2021, amending and enacting Children’s Code Articles 1213, 1217.1, 1233, 1235, and 1239.1 relative to post-placement functions and uniformity in Louisiana private and agency adoptions. The new legislation defines requirements for the frequency of supervisory visits, content of supervisory reports, supportive services to be provided during the supervisory period, and availability of 24-hour crisis assistance for adoptive parents pending finalization. Significantly, the Act also includes requirements for courts in collecting and submitting additional information for each finalized adoption to the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) to release annual statistics on adoptions and placements of children in Louisiana.
