This workshop will focus on opportunities to integrate trauma-focused practices throughout social service programs and to understand the impact of traumatic stress on the populations being served. Techniques will be taught in educating and training personnel for provision of trauma informed care and how to setup the agency for this approach. This workshop would apply to OCS and Mental Health workers, Domestic Violence, and VA programs or any other agency or individual who treats trauma.

The Adverse Childhood Experiences Studies provide the scientific basis for predicting both medical and psychosocial difficulties from childhood traumas. This workshop enables the clinician to learn the strengths and weaknesses of the ACES studies. Using this foundation, the workshop examines the major results across several ACES studies. Finally, this information is used to enhance assessment and intervention strategies across a variety of practice areas.
