Collaborating with the Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) Program

Through federal grants to states and territories, the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) Program supports voluntary, evidence-based home visiting for pregnant women and parents with children up to kindergarten entry. By law, MIECHV awardees must conduct a statewide needs assessment by October 1, 2020, that must be coordinated with or take into account the work of CBCAP programs.

Representatives from the Health Resources Services Administration will join this CBCAP Peer Learning Call (PLC) to share more about this requirement and highlight opportunities for valuable partnership and coordination between MIECHV and CBCAP programs.

Who Needs a Surrogate Parent (Wed. 12 Jun, 2019 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm)

Who Needs a Surrogate Parent

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) gives parents of children with disabilities an active role in planning their child’s educational programs and decision making.  However, sometimes the parent is not available and IDEA allows for a surrogate parent to fill this very important role.  This training will go over the children eligible for a surrogate parent, who can be a surrogate parent and most importantly, who cannot be a surrogate parent.
