Places to Watch: Promising Practices to Address Racial Disproportionality in Child Welfare Services

Paper prepared for: The Casey-CSSP Alliance for Racial Equity whose members are the Annie E. Casey Foundation, including Casey Family Services, Casey Family Programs, and the Jim Casey Youth Opportunities Initiative; The Marguerite Casey Foundation; and the Center for the Study of Social Policy.

This report is organized in several sections:

- Section I provides an overview of selected data about racial disproportionality in child welfare services.

- Section II summarizes approaches and strategies being implemented by the ten jurisdictions. This aim identifies common themes that cut across multiple sites.

- A conclusion underscores the developmental nature of this work and looks ahead to future progress.

- Ten case summaries are appended. Each summary describes the main features of each jurisdiction's approach, and indicates the progress made to date.
