The Cost of Caring: Healing the Helpers

At the core of the helping field is the relationship between those needing support and those who show up to offer support. Without mindful awareness of the cost of caring when supporting youth and families impacted by opioids and other substance use disorders (SUDs), providers run the risk of becoming burnt out or developing compassion fatigue. Understanding the cycle of caring and the way in which providers engage with the youth and families they serve helps set the stage for healthy self-care and community care that support sustainable responses.

In this webinar, Jesse Fairchild, clinical psychotherapist and practice owner of Bodhi, will explore strategies that support the health and well-being of youth-serving providers and will address mindful techniques that, when applied in a consistent and supported manner, extend the ability to continue to help for the long haul.
