Ora G. Williams Media Studio
Kyser Hall Room 142
This interactive workshop will provide discussion on the topics of the use of and stigmas about mental health service in communities of color, the perspectives of employees of color regarding racism in the workplace, and exploration of race-based conversations in clinical settings. Given the social issues that many communities are facing, an understanding of the issues and experiences of people of color is vital to cultural competence and social work practice. Courageous conversations must be held proactively to effect change in society and comfort in therapy, supervision, and peer consultation. Join us on November 7 at 3:30 PM in the Ora G. Williams Media Studio in Kyser Hall Room 142. This event is hosted by the NSU Social Work Department and the Pi Delta Chapter of Phi Alpha Social Work Honor Society and facilitated by the Alexandria VA Healthcare System’s Minority Mental Health Committee. Three hours of clinical or ethical hours will be provided. For more information contact Dr. Campbell at campbellsu@nsula.edu.
