FRIENDS National Center has updated their Online Learning Center Course on protective factors. The course includes an overview of protective factors, defines specific family protective factors, details strategies for promoting family wellbeing, and considers community conditions that promote family strength. The course presents the Center for the Study of Social Policy Strengthening Families FrameworkTM and a sixth family protective factor identified during the development of the Protective Factors Survey. Information is included about an array of tools programs can use to assess their practice with regard to protective factors. This course, which is estimated to take about 90 minutes to complete, can serve as an introduction to someone new to protective factors, or a review for the more seasoned practitioner looking to explore more recent developments regarding this important sphere of work.
