Parent & Practitioner Newsletter – Summer 2020

The FRIENDS National Center for CBCAP is excited to share the latest edition of the Parents & Practitioners Summer 2020 Newsletter. The theme of this edition is preventing child neglect and the newsletter is available in both English and Spanish.

Neglect is defined in the Federal Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) as “Any recent act or failure to act on the part of a parent or caretaker which results in death, serious physical or emotional harm, sexual abuse or exploitation”; or “An act or failure to act which presents an imminent risk of serious harm.” The newsletter explores how communities across the country are providing important programs and services to help prevent child neglect. The challenges of families that have medical needs, racial, educational and income disparities are highlighted as well as the wonderful faith-based, school-based and family support programs that support them.

The Parents & Practitioners Newsletter is coordinated and edited by the FRIENDS Parent Advisory Council. If you are interested in writing an article or want to offer a topic for a future newsletter, please reach out to Carolyn Abdullah (cabdullah@friendsnrc.org). Enjoy the Summer 2020 Edition and feel free to download or copy the links and share widely among your community. CLICK HERE
